One of my favorite things to do is meet artists and make portraits of them. Its most enjoyable when artists are open about what inspires them. Whether it’s in person or on an artists blog, I’ve come across all sorts of wonderful things that inspire. Whether it’s balloons or cactus or what ever the case may be (& sometimes the more mundane the better in my opinion) it is fantastic to see how this then goes through some magical filter and becomes translated into some art form in extra ordinary ways.
This is a portrait of Jeff Soto shown as a photomontage with some of his own work. I used to make black and white portraits of artists just in black and white, because I love that medium, shown beside their own art works, but later this evolved into some digital montage as well. I believe that all artists reflect a huge amount of their personality within their work, and so a portrait of an artist is best when it includes some of their work.
Here are some more artist portraits I have made.. has been awhile since I have continued this project.. so if there are any interested artists out there that want to meet???

"I like", the art and photography of Tamar Cohen
A reblog »
I love balloons, which makes sense since I am obsessed with dots and bright colors.—« Am amazed..Okay, it’s been about a year since I posted ANYTHING on TUMBLR, then today I was reading this interesting blurby about Tamar Cohen in the Harvard Business Review and discovered this great Tumblr blog by said artist. What I really like about the TUMBLR page of Tamar Cohen is that it clearly communicates that Tamar has a strong visual point of view.Something that I respect.I’d even go so far to say that Tamars blog represents a sort of AESTHETIC INTEGRITY that I admire because it’s clear to me that the art thats produced by this person is simply inspired by things the artist “likes”. Now one could contend that indeed all art is inspired in this manner, however if you flip through Tamar’s blog, you might notice that there is something magical tying everything together. Some thing that goes beyond incredible talent. Perhaps it is Passion + Unique Point of View = simply great work.Any way.. I rant.. one could say that it simply boils down to talent.. and they would be right.. but I like to over think little things like this, so suffice to say that now I am a “follower” of Tamar’s tumblr blog, and am inspired to try to make time to use Tumblr once more. Thanks for inspiring me today Tamar.Keep up the great work!
I saw a photo on the Yahoo home page today that reminded me of this photograph I made a few years ago. This black and white fashion photo was partially inspired by the book The Da Vinci Code because it speaks to me about the theme of duality that occurs in the story.
To see the concept it helps to think, man + woman as one.
If you like the concept of this photo and see how the dual image conceptually also speaks to the theme of duality within it, please share it with others and feel free to stop by my fashion photography website too. I have made all the photos on my site shareable on Tumblr :)
Hi I am a fashion photographer and I am new to this Tumblr website. I have lots of fashion photography on my website, and heard this website is also a great place to check out cool photos. This is my first post here on Tumblr, it is a screen grab of my new fashion photography website that I just launched this week. I have lots more fashion photos and think this might be a great place to get feedback before I actually more fashion photography images to my online portfolios. I’m just learning about TUmblr, so if you have any tips or recommendations on how to use this website, please let me know. Thanks. Warren.
